The Home Teacher

In our new ward we really boast that we have great hometeachers. Without fail they come every month and are awesome! However, a little over a week ago we had an experience with our home teacher that would have been perfect for a comedy!
Late last Friday night my little sisters Jessica and Charity were sleeping over. At about 1 a.m. while we were watching a movie I suddenly remembered that we hadn't closed the garage door to our house when we got home. I immediately got up and was on my way to the garage when I saw a little movement on our front lawn through the front window. Suddenly, an adult male appeared. It looked as though he had just finished clearing out our garage and walked onto our front doorstep. There he peered into our house, saw me, and began walking or running briskly to his truck that was parked in front of our house.
I was not able to see the face of the so-called intruder and began freaking out. Gentry had been sleeping on the couch for a little over 30 minutes and was out cold, but quickly woke up to my screams. I yelled for him telling him I thought that somebody had stolen things out of the garage and had tried to get into our house until he saw me and ran off. Next thing I knew, Gentry had disappeared. Apparently he got an adrenaline rush and took off like a panther. He ran down the street with no shoes on screaming, "HEY, HEY!!!!!" The truck kept driving off with Gentry chasing it and the twins and I were about to have a heart attack! Gentry quickly disappeared around the corner and didn't come back for a while. After a minute I heard him talking to someone and soon he walked back to the house in shame.
Apparently, our home teacher was on his way home with his wife and drove past our house. He saw that our garage door was open so he decided to let us know so it wasn't open all night (which was really nice of him, because we really did not mean to leave it open)! While he was walking up to the house he saw me through the window and saw that we had company over, so he felt stupid and went back to his car. Little did he know we thought he was enemy #1! Soon Gentry chased him down and they stopped.
Because Gentry was half-asleep he didn't even realize what he was doing and didn't recognize our home teacher when he stopped. Our home teacher explained what happened and then Gentry felt stupid for chasing off our home teacher when he was trying to help us. To add to the awkward situation, Gentry and I had gone shopping that night and he had bought a t-shirt at Rue 21 for really cheap as a joke. If you know Gentry, you know that he is not a big fan of Obama, and either his Dad. He bought this vibrant t-shirt that says "Obama is my Homeboy" to wear to his Dad's house to get a few laughs and wore the shirt to bed. He then felt even more stupid over what he was wearing while he was talking to them. All in all, it was a very eventful night and Gentry has been mad at me ever since for waking him up from his beauty sleep to make a fool out of himself!
